With a B.A. from Emory University, Mark became a producer for Carruthers Insurance in 1977.  After earning his J.D. from Memphis State University School of Law and admitted to law practice, he became a principal and 50% owner of Carruthers-Harris Agency.  In 1992, he purchased Carruthers-Harris Agency.  In 2001, he merged Carruthers-Harris Agency with Madden and Powell, Inc. to create Harris Madden & Powell, Inc.  He has a particular expertise in heavy casualty risk, construction risk, and manufacturing risk.

With a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama, Jay began at Pearce, Summerford & Co., CPA’s.  In 1981, he returned to the University of Alabama to earn his M.B.A.  For the next four years, he worked for the National Bank of Commerce, specializing in Construction Lending.  From 1985-1992, he worked as a producer for McDonnell Insurance.  In 1992, he and Rick Powell formed Madden & Powell, Inc.  In 2001, he and Powell merged with Carruthers-Harris Agency to create Harris Madden & Powell, Inc.  While working as an HMP principal, he is also a State Director with the Associated General Contractors.

With a B.S. in Finance from the University of Alabama, Rick began his career in insurance at McDonnell Insurance in 1979.  In 1992, he and Jay Madden formed Madden & Powell, Inc.  In 2001, he and Madden merged with Carruthers-Harris Agency to create Harris Madden & Powell, Inc.  In 2005, Powell became a founding director of Triumph Bank.

In 1994, Ric joined Madden & Powell, Inc. after graduating from the University of Southwest Louisiana with a degree in accounting. Now, as a principal at Harris Madden & Powell, he specializes in heavy casualty, construction insurance and bonding. He also has a specialized area of focus advising and insuring public entities and municipalities.

Sandee began her insurance career at Harris Madden & Powell in 2004.  She has seven years of experience in risk management and claims in the hospitality industry.  Along with working for a national corporation, she came to HMP with six years of background experience in banking and another four years in the legal industry.  As a producer at HMP, Sandee focuses on commercial business insurance.

After graduating with a BA in Marketing from the Univerity of Memphis Ann Fitzgerald began her career in insurance at Carruthers Harris Agency where she became a Commercial Lines Producer. Ann currently specializes in Commercial Construction with an emphasis in Local/Intermediate Trucking, Landscaping/Irrigation & Group Health.

Jason Flatt is a life-long Memphian and second generation insurance professional.  He is licensed in Life & Health, as well as, Property & Casualty.  While focused on helping companies negotiate the ever-changing programs of group health products and employee benefits, Jason also works closely with individuals to meet all of their personal lines need.

 

In 1982, Gabe embarked on his insurance career. After joining Madden & Powell in 1993 as commercial insurance producer he developed an emphasis in commercial insurance including retail, private schools, manufacturers, and property risks.

Judy began her insurance career in 1975 as a Personal Lines CSR at Carruthers Ins. In Collierville, TN. She then moved to Fireman’s Fund, Ins. Co. in Memphis, TN as the Commercial Lines Rating Supervisor. She moved to the Holiday Corporation to work with franchise owners nationwide to place their property and casualty insurance. In 1989, Judy returned as an agent to what was then Carruthers-Harris Insurance Agency and now Harris Madden & Powell.

Dean graduated from the University of Mississippi and studied insurance and risk Management. In 2002, he began his career in insurance as a commercial lines producer. He holds several professional designations including CIC, ARM, RPLU, CRIS and is a RIMS Fellow. Currently, he is a member of the Global risk Management and Professional Liability Underwriting Society. Dean specializes providing insurance and risk management solutions to the hospitality industry including restaurants and distributors.

Bryan D. Moultrie originally hails from the North Mississippi/Desoto County area and has been in the financial services industry since graduating from the University of Memphis is 2002. He spent three years with Liberty Mutual Insurance Group in Cordova, TN, before coming to Harris Madden & Powell in February of 2009.

Cooper grew up in Ripley, Mississippi. A recipient of the NMIIA and the MIEF scholarships, he graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2006 with a degree in insurance and risk management. He spent two years with Morgan Keegan & Company as a bond analyst for the fixed income research department. Cooper joined Harris, Madden & Powell in 2009 as a commercial lines producer focusing on construction, trucking, manufacturing and bonds.

Rick started in the insurance business in 1975 after working for ten years as a financial consultant and advisor in the securities industry. Now, he specializes in commercial lines property and casualty insurance with an emphasis on construction, retail and wholesale industry segments.

Sami began her insurance career over 25 years ago as a Personal Lines CSR in Boise, Idaho. She was then transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah as a Commercial Lines CSR. Finally landing in Memphis, TN in 1996, Sami specialized in general retail, wholesale and service operations. Sami currently manages the HMP program for small to medium furniture and hardware stores throughout the United States.

Jane started in the insurance business in 1970 with Prudential Insurance as personal assistant to one of Prudential's top producers. Working in the Life, Health and Group markets with her customers, she was the recipient of the “Above & Beyond” award from Prudential for her dedicated service to her customers. After 22 years with Prudential, she joined forces with Mark Harris at Carruthers-Harris helping to build the Group, Life & Health Department. After the merger with Madden & Powell, she has worked to head up the Group, Life & Health Department. She has been a past Leader’s Club Member with Humana as well as on the Agents Advisory for BCBST and Humana. She is a current member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and the local branch of Mid-South Health Underwriters. After 40 years in the insurance business, she still looks forward to working daily with her customers and making sure that their best interest is always first.
